Eastside Update 7.8.2022

by Eastside Church on July 08, 2022

Community Care

The past few weeks, a few of our church members have experienced hurt, hardship, and struggles. These are the moments where the body of Christ is called to move in love and meets the needs of His bride. Here are the needs that we know to address:

  • Elizabeth Kennis just returned home after breaking her leg and needs meals on Tuesday and Thursday
  • Jen Gillfillan needs meals as she cares for her mother who had a stroke and was her granddaughters caregiver
  • Louise Bass fell and fractured a vertebrae and in on limited movement.

Are you willing to help members of your church family? If so, please email  for more information.

If you or someone you know has a need that can be met by our Community Care Team, please email .

Spring Worship Night!

We had a wonderful time at our Spring Worship Night on Wednesday! Thank you to everyone who joined us for our night of praise and worship. For anyone who would like to watch the event online, it can be found on the church's YouTube channel, Eastside Administration.

KAIROS EIGHT25 SUPPORT GROUP

Any women struggling with infertility, miscarriage, or infant loss are welcome at the next meeting of Kairos Eight25 on Monday, July 11 from 7:00-8:30 PM at Grace Covenant Presbyterian Church, 1677 Jamestown Rd. This Christ-centered support group meets on the 2nd Monday of each month and offers hope to women who are experiencing the loss and loneliness of infertility and miscarriage.

Contact Gwen Martin at 757-897-1661 if you would like more information.

"But if we hope for what we do not see, we eagerly wait for it with perseverance" (Romans 8:25).

Online Giving

Currently we have several donors who use Online giving, and it has been such a blessing through COVID to be able to contribute this way, but a little known fact is that the church pays a fee to the online processor (2-3%).

You can reduce the fee by changing your online gift from Credit Card to ACH (direct from your checking account). Just select the ACH option at the bottom. If you would like to reduce the fee altogether you can set up Bill Pay through your bank and they will issue a check for free and mail it for you as well. We are so appreciative of the convenience Online giving has provided and if you feel this is still the best option for you, please continue using this method.

Payouts from IRA

Once you have reached 72 (previously 70 1/2) the IRS requires you to take an RMD (Required Minimum Distribution). Once you pull that amount out of your IRA you must pay taxes on that money. If you use the Qualified Charitable Distribution method you can give the full amount of the withdrawal to the church without paying the taxes.

Please talk to your financial advisor if you would like to use this method for taking your RMD.

Nominations

From now through July, Eastside is accepting nominations for the Leadership Team. If you have someone you would like to nominate, you may drop their name into the offering box on Sunday morning or you can nominate them on our website here!

Check our website for daily prayer sheets with responsive readings to enhance your prayer time.

Prayer Requests

Do you need prayer for something going on in your life? We have prayer team members who would love to pray for you and your situation. If you want us to pray privately and confidentially, we will do that. If you would like your prayer requests to be shared and prayed for by our open prayer groups, we can lift them up during our weekly prayer times.
