Summary
Your Presence is Wonderful!
Detail
Sermon Notes
- God’s presence is lovely. “How lovely is Your dwelling place, O Lord Almighty. My soul yearns, even faints, for the courts of the Lord; my heart and my flesh cry out for the living God.” (84:1-2)
- God’s presence is home. “Even the sparrow has found a home, and the swallow a nest for herself, where she may lay her young – a place near Your altar, O Lord Almighty, my King and my God.” (84:3)
- God’s presence is empowering. “Blessed are those whose strength is in You….They go from strength to strength till each appears before God in Zion.” (84:5,7)
- Experiencing God’s presence still requires us to move.
- God’s presence is comforting. “As they pass through the Valley of Baca or weeping, they make it a place of springs; the autumn rains also cover it with pools.” (84:6)
- God’s comfort is stronger than our grief.
- God’s presence is attentive. “Hear my prayer, O Lord God Almighty; listen to me, O God of Jacob.” (84:8)
- God’s presence is superior. “Better is one day in Your courts than a thousand elsewhere; I would rather be a doorkeeper in the house of my God than dwell in the tents of the wicked.” (84:10)
- We can bring God’s presence to the world!
- We say to Satan: “No way!”
- We say to the world: “So what!”
