MEMBERSHIP COVENANT SIGNING PARTY

So exciting!!

On Sunday, September 13, we will end our worship service a few minutes early in order to give everyone an opportunity to become a member at Eastside Church by signing our Eastside Membership Covenant. You do not have to be a member in order to worship with us. However, membership does offer certain privileges such as being eligible for certain leadership positions, and also being eligible to vote on who might fill those leadership positions.

Some might ask, "Why do we need membership?" I think it is a reasonable question. One answer is as follows: Membership is a way to ensure that the leadership of the church actually believes and continues to believe central tenets of the faith such as Christ di ed for our sins and was raised from the dead (1 Cor 15:3-4). False teaching has been a problem within the church dating all the way back to the days of the Apostle Paul. Membership requires agreement with our Statement of Faith, and therefore can be very helpful in preventing false teaching.

There are more reasons why membership has been endorsed in so many churches throughout church history. I look forward to talking more with anyone who might have questions. You will not be pressured to sign anything before you are comfortable. May the Holy Spirit lead us all.

The Membership Covenant and the Statement of Faith are found by clicking here. You can print a copy of the Membership Covenant and bring it, along with a pen, to the Signing Party on Sept 13. If you do not have a printer, you can receive a copy to sign at the Sept 13 worship service.

A draft version of the Co nstitution and By-Laws is available to anyone who requests a copy. Please text or call Pastor Doug Bunn at 757-871-0663. If you are unable to be present at our Sept 13 service, then you are welcome to sign the Membership Covenant anytime before or after that date.

3 WAYS TO WORSHIP

Eastside offers three ways to worship on Sunday mornings: 9:00 AM outdoors in our parking lot; 9:00 AM in our worship room to watch our live stream; and from home or on-the-go with our service streaming on our YouTube channel(Eastside Administration).

If you are outside, bring a chair and even an umbrella if you'd like more shade. If you are inside, please wear a mask. Childcare is available for our 9:00 AM worship service. Please visit our website eastsidechurchwmbg.org for more information.
